Malayala Manorama Ltd., among India's biggest newspaper publishers, headquartered in Kottayam, placed what Denmark's Schur Packaging Systems calls the "world's biggest inserter order" — 26 inserting lines valued at several million euros.
The country's leading Malayalam-language regional newspaper, is modernizing its 10 printing facilities. Mailrooms will install inserting, programmed bundling and other automation in conjunction with new Manugraph Smartline 4-by-1 and Frontline presses.
The plants' gripper conveyor will be Schur's new TGG 3200. The stream will split to two inserters equipped with two hoppers, for two inserts, with provision for expandsion to four. The new, ergonomic A520 hopper loader will be part of the system. The inserters will feed the two stacker lines manufactured at the Schur Newstech joint venture in Mumbai. The gripper lines also will connect to a stacker TS 800 positioned on the inserting floor for supplement production.
Each with a capacity of 35,000 cph, the 26 inserting lines will be served by 13 TGG 3200 folder gripper conveyors and will send copies to the TS 800 and NTTS 300 stacker lines.
