By: E&P Staff Todd F. Schurz has been appointed chief executive of Schurz Communications (SCI) in South Bend, Ind., effective June 30. He has served as the company's president and chief operating officer since November 2005, and will retain those titles.
He succeeds Franklin D. Schurz Jr., who will remain the company's chairman of the board.
A diversified privately owned media company, Schurz Communications publishes 13 daily newspapers -- among them The Advocate-Messenger in Danville, Ky., and the South Bend Tribune -- in medium and small markets with a combined circulation of nearly 235,000. It also publishes eight weekly newspapers.
