Seven Sites Add Kodak CTP Hardware, Software

By: E&P Staff Seven North American newspaper printers recently bought thermal digital platesetters and workflow software from Eastman Kodak Co., Rochester, N.Y.

The Gazette, Freedom Communications' daily in Colorado Springs, Colo., added a Kodak Trendsetter News platesetter to those it already uses, along with Kodak Thermalnews Gold digital plates to print the newspaper and commercial work. The plates feature run lengths exceeding 200,000 impressions without postbaking.

Page 1 Printers, a PAGE Co-Op member in Slayton, Minn., added a second Trendsetter News 70 thermal imager and Thermalnews Gold plates. Page 1 prints more than 40 weeklies and shoppers, as well as commercial sheetfed jobs.

Another PAGE Co-Op member, The Messenger, Union City, Tenn., purchased a Trendsetter News 70, Thermalnews Gold plates, Kodak Prinergy Evo workflow system, Kodak Preps imposition software and rosette- and moir?-free Kodak Staccato screening for production of the daily, 25 other newspapers, and various commercial work. Prinergy Evo PDF workflow features color management, late-stage editing and imposition, and advanced screening options to optimize Trendsetter output.

Web Printing Ltd., a division of Metroland Media Group, Oakville, Ontario (Trendsetter News 70).
