'Star Tribune' Aces Audit

Posted
By: E&P Staff The Audit Bureau of Circulations has confirmed that the Star Tribune in Minneapolis has a clean bill of health. In June, four advertisers sued the paper for allegedly pumping up its circulation.

A regularly scheduled yearly audit, released today by ABC, found that circulation adjustments are not required by the paper.

"Our confidence in the Star Tribune's circulation has been confirmed independently by ABC," Gary Pruitt, CEO of the Star Tribune's parent company, McClatchy, said in a statement. "We've said from the beginning that the lawsuit questioning our circulation is without merit and this is just more demonstration of that fact."

Two of the four Minneapolis-area advertisers have dropped out of the suit. Additionally, U.S. District Judge Richard Kyle granted McClatchy's motion to dismiss it from the case. The Star Tribune is still involved.
