Stephens Buys North Texas Weeklies

By: E&P Staff Stephens Media Group has bought three weeklies and a seasonal monthly in northern Texas from Cain Communications.

The sale includes the Van Alstyne Leader, Prosper Press, and the Anna Melissa Tribune, all weeklies. It also includes Lake Texoma Life, a 10,000-copy controlled-circulation seasonal monthly. The papers are located in a growing region north of Dallas.

The Dallas-based mergers and acquisitions firm Rickenbacher Media represented Cain Communications in the transaction.

Las Vegas, Nev.-based Stephens already publishes the Sherman-Denison Herald Democrat, a 24,000-circulation daily in north Texas.
