Stephens Media Buys Nevada Group

By: Mark Fitzgerald Las Vegas-based Stephens Media Group has bought the assets of Thurlow Communications Inc. in Pahrump, Nev., including the 7,000-circulation, semiweekly Pahrump Valley Times, an area telephone directory and real estate guide, and a commercial printing plant. Michael D. Lindsey, owner of Media Consultants Inc. in Cheyenne, Wyo., was consultant to Thurlow.

In a separate transaction, Terry Lantrip sold two Dallas-area weeklies, the 2,400-circulation Lake Cities Sun in Lake Dallas and the 2,000-circulation Argyle Sun, to Mark Henry and Sean French, owners of the Zapata County News. Also in the Dallas area, L&B Publishers Inc. (principal owners: Larry Briscoe and Bill Slaughter) sold the 3,800-circulation weekly Rockwall County News to Hartman Newspapers Inc. of Rosenberg, Texas. Dallas-based Rickenbacher Media represented the sellers in both transactions.
