Study: Traffic To Video-Sharing Sites Doubles

By: E&P Staff The Pew Internet & American Life Project reports that daily traffic to YouTube and other video sharing sites has soared in the past year. According to the study, it has nearly doubled, up to 48% of adults.

Several factors contributed to this rise including the increased penetration of broadband within households. 54% of adults now have high-speed Internet connections at home.

Pew's national phone survey spanned across 2,054 adults, 48% of whom used a vide sharing site, up from last year?s 33%.

15% of the respondents used a video-sharing site in the day before they answered the survey.

Other notable numbers:

- The number of high school graduates visiting video sites increased 160%, from 5% to 13%.

- The number of women using video sites increased 120%, from 5% to 11%.

- The number of people aged between 30 and 49 visiting video sites increased 100%, from 7% to 14%.
