By: E&P Staff Quebecor subsidiary Sun Media's weekly Goderich (Ontario) Signal-Star is now printed on more modern equipment at the group's pressroom in Sarnia.
The Signal-Star and its commercial printing and distribution division remain in Goderich, but lacking sufficient color capacity, "Goderich's printing is being divided among other existing company print sites," the paper reports.
Eight press-related jobs were said to be affected by the change, with company offering alternative employment at other print sites.
The Signal-Star dates from the launch of the Huron Signal 160 years ago. The commercial printing operation dates from 1966, when a News King press brought web offset printing opportunities. Among customers taking advantage of the offset process at that time were most of the area's community newspapers.
