By: E&P Staff Citizen journalism is a closely watched area in media nowadays and one of the largest issues with it is finding ways to train non-journalist to produce quality content.

EditorsWeblog.com is reporting that Tactical Technology Collective has developed the "The Citizen Journalism Toolkit" that will provide training materials on selected free software tools and web applications that will offer people what they need to know in order to create and distribute content.

The materials will cover print publishing, using images, online publishing and audio. The kit also has modular, hands-on guides to help people use the tools and quick start projects.

The toolkit will also include strategic guides to help NGOs and advocates make informed choices about which tools are right for them.?

How Dublin Inquirer uses legal risk assessments to keep accountability journalism moving

When Dublin Inquirer publishes a sensitive accountability story, the challenge isn’t just reporting the facts. It’s deciding whether a small, seven-person newsroom can afford the legal risks that sometimes come with telling the public what it needs to know. For editor and co-founder Sam Tranum and deputy editor Lois Kapila, those decisions once came down to late-night conversations and educated guesswork. Today, the independent Dublin newsroom relies on Reporters Shield’s Legal Risk Assessment service to help identify potential legal vulnerabilities before publication—allowing journalists to move forward with greater confidence while keeping important stories alive.
