By: E&P Staff Turkish daily Hurriyet Gazetecilik, a subsidiary of Dogan Yayin Holding, Istanbul, Turkey, purchased additional T-1400 press equipment for its Adana and Antalya locations from Tensor Group, Woodridge, Ill. The equipment was sold through Tensor's Turkish agency.
For the Adana DPC plant, Tensor supplied 19 T-1400 units and one upper former, which was added to an existing Tensor press. The units are arranged as three four-highs, three two-highs and one stacked unit. The Adana press became a 95-unit, three-folder press after this recent installation was completed, giving Dogan newspapers increased color pagination capacity.
At the Antalya DPC plant, Tensor supplied 26 T-1400 units and one H-50 folder, which was added to an existing Tensor press. Units are configured as six four-high towers and one two-high with auxiliaries. Original Tensor equipment at Antalya was added to two Goss Community presses. With the recent addition of the Tensor T-1400 equipment, the Antalya plant has a full Tensor press line consisting of 34 units, supplying pagination capability of 40 pages (32 in color) for printing the flagship Hurriyet.
Dogan Printing Centers are owned by Dogan Publishing Holdings, and handle printing for all group titles in six Turkish cities. Total circulation for the group can reach 3.5 million copies on weekends. Titles printed at the Adana Dogan Printing Center include Hurriyet, Milliyet, Posta, Radikal, Fanatik, G?zc? and Finansal Forum. In addition to the DYH group titles, three other national titles are printed on contract.
Editora Demar, Tamaulipas, Mexico, also acquired a Tensor press -- an eight-web singlewide consisting of four T-1400 four-highs, two two-highs and an H-50 jaw folder with three formers and a 21-inch cutoff. Units are equipped with remote inking systems, spiral-brush dampening and motorized registration. Eight zero-speed splicers feed the press.
The family-owned Editora Demar publishes the North Tamaulipas dailies El Manana de Laredo and El Manana de Reynosa. Editora Demar bought a Tensor four-high tower in 1999 through Tensor's Mexican agency, Web Press Equipment, and with the new equipment will begin doing commercial work, according to the company.
