The Forward Promotes Web Editor to New Position

Gabrielle Birkner, web editor of NY based Forward Jewish newspaper, has been promoted to the newly created position of Director of Digital Media, effective immediately. As Director of Digital Media, Birkner will oversee the Forward.com and work closely with the business side of the Forward, as well as with strategic partners and vendors to develop and deliver new products across multiple digital platforms. In this role, she will also continue to manage the digital production staff, develop web features, and hold responsibility for the editorial content and design of the Forward.com

Birkner joined the Forward in December 2008 as its Web editor. Previously, she worked at The New York Sun, where she was the features editor and, before that, a staff reporter. She graduated in 2001 from Northwestern University.
