By: E&P Staff The Miami Herald's top advertising executive, Alex Villoch, is leaving the company to become president and chief executive of the Zoological Society of Florida.

''She has exhibited great energy and vision as a key member of our senior leadership team,'' Miami Herald Media Publisher David Landsberg said in an email to staff. "Her contributions to our company have been numerous, and she'll be greatly missed.''

The Herald reports: "Villoch is a veteran South Florida executive who had a long career in the airline industry before joining The Herald in 2000. A former general manager of United Airlines, she started at The Herald as national director and was promoted over the years. She is now senior vice president for advertising and marketing.

"The Zoological Society's activities include marketing, volunteers, fundraising, and educational programs. It had $6.78 million in revenue in 2005, according to its most recent IRS return on file with guidestar.org."
