By: E&P Staff News aggregator Topix has signed up several content providers. Topix will provide ZIP code-level news feeds to Accuweather.com, OurTown, A Greater Town, and Grapevine Communities. The news site is also in test-mode to power local sports news on ESPN.com.
The Palo Alto, Calif.-based company also inked deal to provide local news feeds for Sprint's upcoming new mobile Internet service WiMax. Also on board with Topix is Cyberhomes. Topix will feed pertinent news to the real estate and property valuation Web site.
"Topix is the best source for comprehensive, local news feeds for every town in the U.S.," Chris Tolles, CEO of Topix, said in a statement. "CNN has been using our local news feeds for a year now, and we're pleased to provide valuable, local content to these new partners as well."
Topix is a privately held company with investments from Gannett, McClatchy, and Tribune.
