By: E&P Staff Tribune Interactive launched branded channels on YouTube for its television and newspaper properties, the company said on Thursday.
"Our arrangement with YouTube underscores our efforts to leverage our award-winning content and make it more widely available to engage a new group of consumers," Tim Landon, president of Tribune Interactive, said in a statement.
The
channels feature local news content, commentary, and entertainment clips.
On the Chicago Tribune site, for example, it allows for comments, it shows how many people viewed videos, and it gives a breakdown of the most popular videos (bulldozers leveling Wrigley Field is the current winner with 14,500 views). Some of the videos include advertising as well.
"Working with Tribune Interactive provides our users with relevant local content and timely, reliable local news coverage in some of the largest media markets in the U.S.," Jordan Hoffner, head of premium content partnerships for YouTube, said in a statement."
