Upcoming Quipp Installation, New Orders

Posted
By: E&P Staff Quipp Systems will ship an inserter equipped with its Newscom 6 insert-management control system to The Waco (Texas) Tribune-Herald in the next few weeks. The Miami-based manufacturer also announced orders from papers in North and South America.

The inserting and packaging system headed to Waco consists of a 24:2 High-Speed inserter and management control system, eight hopper loaders, Quipp Twin-Trak belt conveyor system, three stackers, three Viper three-quarter wrappers with high-resolution ink jet systems and 20-inch extensions, and floor conveyors for dock distribution.

The Inserter is equipped with the Quipp's new pick-up station, which is designed to eliminate the whipping motion during pick-up that can result in a thick product dropping out of the gripper as it accelerates out of the pocket.

Quipp also will install a Newscom 6 on a Goss NP 630 inserter at The Fayetteville (N.C.) Observer within the next several months.

Elsewhere, Diario Panorama, Maracaibo, Venezuela, ordered a second Twin-Trak belt conveyor system. Its first, bought in January, is to be installed in July. The second should be ready for installation later in summer.

Other recent orders include: The London (Ontario) Free Press (three Model 500 stackers); The Birmingham (Ala.) News (two more Viper wrappers); The Washington Post (12 centering pacers for its Springfield, Va., plant); South Florida Sun-Sentinel (additional Free roller floor conveyors for its Deerfield Beach plant); Dow Jones & Co. (several floor Rollerslat conveyors and powered belt curves for its Charlotte, N.C., plant).
