By: Staff Reports Election, Basketball Contribute To Increased Traffic

USAToday.com reported that pageviews in November were more than
263 million, a 74% increase from November 1999.

Along with other news sites that reported unprecedented traffic
jumps last month, USAToday.com attributes the increase to the
Election 2000 coverage. Other traffic drivers included coverage
of the NFL and college basketball.

The peak traffic day was the day after the election, Nov. 8,
spiked by people who wanted to get results of the preceding
night's cliffhanger. On Nov. 8, the site got 15.8 million
pageviews. On Nov. 7, Election Day, the site had 13.6 million
page views.
