By: E&P Staff Through the Washington Post's newly updated online photo
store, the paper's digitized photographic content is available to be viewed, purchased, and licensed through the Web.
Emeryville, Calif.-based Pictopia.com, which has hosted the Post's photo gallery and printing capabilities for three years, was also chosen to provide hosting, photo processing, and back-end and e-commerce solutions for the improved site. The photo store now features an improved search function, lightbox capability so users can store favorite images, and online forms for professionals to request licensing and acquire high-resolution images.
Choosing from recent news photos or established photo galleries, users can purchase framed or unframed prints in several sizes along with t-shirts, coffee mugs, ceramic tiles, puzzles, or mouse pads imprinted with Washington Post photos. Unframed prints range from $50 to $160 and "photo gifts" from $15 to $20.
