WashingtonPost.com Launches Ad-Supported Vodcasts

By: E&P Staff Internet Service Provider Earthlink began running 15-second ad spots promoting its high-speed wireless products on The WashingtonPost.com's video podcasts Dec. 9.

The ads run prior to the video news content of the vodcasts.

MediaVest, the branding communications and strategic marketing company, negotiated the deal on behalf of Earthlink.

"We're always looking for ways to create new and different ways for advertisers to connect with the influential and active audience on washingtonpost.com," Caroline Little, CEO and publisher of washingtonpost.com, said in a statement. "Video podcasting is an opportunity that offers exciting potential for the future.?

Washingtonpost.com began offering video news podcasts in October, and according to the company's release, now ranks 18th out of the top 100 podcasts downloaded from iTunes, the highest ranking of a podcast from a non-broadcast news entity.
