By: E&P Staff The Washington Times has begun using the Inform company's technology on its Web site.
For instance, a spokesperson for Inform said this technology is helping "drive" WashingtonTimes.com's political coverage as the election nears. One new feature on the site is a "cube" which can be rotated to see top stories of the day and lets users "drill down" by topic, related articles, and multimedia.
The Times also relies on Inform to create topic-specific pages spotlighting news and newsmakers. Each "Theme" page is automatically updated with relevant Times stories and photos, as well as with content such as pictures, video, and blog posts from sites chosen by the paper.
"Our goal in this comprehensive site redesign was to use the full potential of the Web," said Times Executive Editor John Solomon in a statement. "Inform's technology helps us do that."
Inform CEO James Satloff added: "The best Web-site experience is hIghly interactive and lets readers dig deep into a topic."
The technology company's clients also include Washingtonpost.Newsweek Interactive, Cox Newspapers, and nearly 100 other newspaper and non-newspaper entities.
