By: E&P Staff Expanding its range of newspaper presses to meet customer demand for greater productivity, flexibility and semi-commercial capabilities, Wifag now offers units in doublewide, two-around and one-around (straight-only) and triplewide two-around dimensions, and in blanket-to-blanket and nine-cylinder satellite (common-impression) design.
Presses may be configured with UV curing units or heatset dryers. Equipment also includes autopasters that accommodate roll diameters up to 1.5 meters and 2:5:5 and 2:7:7 folders.
Besides in-service semi-automatic plate changing that shortens makeready, Wifag reports that its first new systems for fully automatic plate change are being installed at customer sites. Wifag also has developed largely automated solutions to handle variable web widths.
In addition to optimized startup and production-changeover sequences to boost productivity while reducing waste, Wifag is delivering its first fan-out control functions that are based on image data it already uses for color register and cut-off control systems.
