ABC Releases Five Consolidated Media Reports

By: E&P Staff The Audit Bureau of Circulations has released five new Consolidated Media Reports (CMR) that take into account all of a newspapers' circulation across a market, including niche and digital related publications.

The reports are a first for The Dallas Morning News, Fort Worth (Texas) Star-Telegram and Gettysburg (Pa.) Times. ABC also released updated versions for the Chicago Tribune and The Kansas City Star.

"With business models evolving and distribution channels growing, we are working to develop flexible reporting options that allow newspapers to report data from a wide variety of channels and products while still providing advertiser with independently verified, comparable data," ABC President and Managing Director Michael Lavery said in a statement.

At the Dallas Morning News for the six months ending September 2009, weekday circulation -- which includes the flagship, Briefing, Al Dia and Quick -- is 412,437. Weekend circulation for the same group of publications is 684,931.

In Fort Worth, the CMR includes the Star-Telegram, La Estrella En Casa, DFW.com Ink, and several community newspapers for the six months ending September 2009.

The Gettysburg Times report includes its bi-monthly The Gettysburg Companion and its Spanish language product El Diario Latino in the mix.

For the 26 weeks ending Sept. 27, the Chicago Tribune, Hoy, The Mash, RedEye and Fin de Semana collectively have an average weekday circulation of 749,219. The Kansas City Star?s Wednesday circ is 263,155 when the free Ink is included.
