Anthropic, the company behind the Claude AI chatbot, filed Monday to sell shares to the public, setting the stage for a potential stock-market debut in November, The Associated Press reports. The company plans to trade on Nasdaq under the symbol ANT, though its final offering price, valuation and fundraising total remain undetermined.
The offering could give Anthropic substantial capital to expand its business as it competes with OpenAI. It also comes weeks after CEO Dario Amodei called for slowing development of the most advanced AI models, highlighting the tension between the industry’s rapid commercial expansion and concerns about the technology’s risks.
