Former 60 Minutes chief Bill Owens joins creator-led Newpress

Former 60 Minutes executive producer Bill Owens will join Newpress as executive producer on March 1, 2027, TheWrap reports. The venture, founded by Johnny and Iz Harris, has raised $12 million from Emerson Collective and Glick Family Investments.

Newpress plans to expand its roster of creator-led shows, with research, fact-checking, production and business support behind the journalists on screen. The move offers another example of experienced television talent joining organizations built around independent creators and digital distribution.
