AP Publishes New Book on Bronx Bombers

By: E&P Staff The Associated Press has released a new book chronicling the history of baseball's winningest team, the New York Yankees. "New York Yankees 365" (Abrams; September 2009) is a photo retrospective of the 163-year old team, with pictures pulled from AP's own archives.

The founding of the Associated Press and the first recorded baseball game both occurred in 1846, so the two "grew up together," said AP President/CEO Tom Curley. "Over the course of the last century, the Yankees have come to embody the majesty of the game of baseball. They are a part of Americana. This book is a photographic celebration of the history and heroes the team has created."

The book covers all aspects of Yankees history, from their early days as the New York Highlanders to their first game in the new Yankee Stadium on April 16, 2009. The iconic images are joined by commentary and a running timeline of major Yankee milestones. The tome also features a foreword by former Yankee first baseman Don Mattingly.
