By: E&P Staff Evelyn Miyasato has joined the staff of the American Press Institute in Reston, Va. as its director of finance, the organization announced in a statement Thursday. Miyasato will be responsible for the overall management of API's finances, including budget, development of financial strategies, and providing financial projections and reports.
"API is fortunate to have someone with more than 20 years' experience in audit and financial management join the staff," said API President and Executive Director Andrew B. Davis. "Evelyn's experience will help ensure API's financial stewardship and transparency."
Prior to joining API, Miyasato, a certified public accountant, was a vice president for finance at Pact, a Washington, D.C., nonprofit group that provides social and economic development programs for developing countries. She had been at Pact since 1993.
Born and raised in the Philippines, she has a Bachelor of Science in accounting from the University of Santo Tomas and a Master of Business Administration from De La Salle University, both in the Philippines. She came to the United States in 1991.
The American Press Institute is an independent educational center providing skills-training and leadership development in the news industry, offering seminars, online training and on-site programs for newspaper professionals.
