'B.C.' Gaining a Book and Losing Some Newspapers

By: E&P Staff "Growing Old With B.C.: A 50 Year Celebration" will be released in September by the Checker Book Publishing Group.

The 200-page collection contains comics chosen by "B.C." creator Johnny Hart prior to his April 7 death. The book -- mentioned today on The Comics Reporter blog -- also features new drawings by Hart.

"B.C.," which is being continued by Hart's family, appears in about 1,200 newspapers via Creators Syndicate.

In other "B.C." news, at least three papers have decided to drop the comic since Hart's death. They are The Des Moines Register, the Lexington (Ky.) Herald-Leader, and The Sacramento Bee, according to The Daily Cartoonist blog.
