Bill Day, Frank Rich Among Aronson Winners

By: E&P Staff Several nationally distributed creators have won James Aronson Awards for Social Justice Journalism, which will be presented Wednesday at Hunter College in New York City.

The recipients include editorial cartoonist Bill Day of The Commercial Appeal in Memphis and United Media, and columnist Frank Rich of The New York Times and New York Times News Service.

Other winners are Peter Gosselin of the Los Angeles Times, for reporting about why many Americans are financially less secure; Seymour Hersh of The New Yorker, for exposing the Abu Ghraib torture scandal; and Naomi Klein of Harper's Magazine, for reporting about how the Bush administration worsened economic conditions in Iraq.
