By: Joe Strupp The Boston Globe has created a new editor's post, deputy managing editor in charge of front-page enterprise, appointing Caleb Solomon, an assistant managing editor/business, to the job.
The new position is described in a release as being "charged with continually developing distinctive news stories that have journalistic depth and impact."
"Caleb has demonstrated a real talent for creating page one stories and for populating the Business section with stories of wide appeal," Editor Martin Baron said in a statement. "At the same time, he has worked collaboratively with the photo, graphics, and design departments to produce a section that is a consistent standout visually. He also has played a key role in our efforts to innovate throughout the company on the Web and in print."
Shirley Leung, a former Wall Street Journal staffer and current Globe senior assistant business editor, will replace Solomon. Both changes take effect May 21.
