By: Editorial Staff TWO COLUMNS AND a comic are being syndicated by Quest Features/ Lew Little Enterprises (LLE).
Mark Tatulli's "Bent Halos" strip features human and angel characters; Rev. Mike Riley's "Only Human" column focuses on religious matters, and Dr. Judi Craig's "Family Matters" column discusses parenting, ethics and other topics.
Craig is a practicing clinical psychologist from San Antonio, where her weekly feature has appeared in the Light and Express-News.
She has also written several books, including Parents on the Spot, What Happened in School Today?, Little Kids, Big Questions and a children's title called Wally's Wonderful Wish.
In addition, she serves as a consultant, conducts seminars, delivers speeches, and appears on TV programs such as Larry King and Sally Jessy Raphael.
Craig holds doctorate and master's degrees in clinical psychology from the University of Wisconsin. The columnist also earned magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa honors in an unusual English/psychology double major at Southern Methodist University, where she studied creative writing.
The Edison, N.J.-based Riley is an ordained Baptist minister who does a frequently humorous and sometimes controversial column that examines ethical issues as well as contemporary religious and spiritual trends in America.
Riley, who formerly penned a monthly feature for the Philadelphia Daily News, writes weekly for the East Brunswick, N.J., Home News.
The daily and Sunday "Bent Halos" focuses on the relationship between 4-year-old Lexa Ann and her guardian angel, Mort.
Tatulli is a New Jersey resident who works as creative director of a commercial production company near Philadelphia. He formerly did the "Mr. Fipps" comic for the Burlington County (N.J.) Times.
The cartoonist was a winner of King Features Syndicate's "Create the Comics of the '90s" contest, and also received two regional Emmys for his graphic design on TV commercials.
The three LLE features all run in the Quest section of the Bisbee (Ariz.) News weekly paper started this summer by entrepreneur Dave Cartun and journalist Mary Ellen Corbett.
Cartun is co-publisher/general manager and Corbett co-publisher/editor of the weekly. And Corbett's husband, veteran syndication executive Lew Little, is working part time for the paper as executive editor.
The Quest section contains material on "home, family, leisure and spiritual growth."
LLE is offering "Bent Halos" and the two columns individually to daily papers but only as a Quest package to weeklies.
Little, a consultant to Universal Press Syndicate since 1989, said the Quest concept evolved after he attended a Universal sales meeting last January and heard a "superb" presentation on Religion News Service by RNS editor Joan Connell and Newhouse Newspapers Washington bureau chief Deborah Howell. Newhouse owns RNS, which is marketed by Universal.
