Compton Named Publisher of Greenville Paper

By: David Compton, group publisher in Connecticut for the Journal Register Co., has been named publisher of the Daily Advocate in Greenville, Ohio.

Compton, 37, succeeds Gary Lamberg, who became publisher of The Athens Messenger.

In Connecticut, Compton oversaw 16 newspapers and four shopping publications with a combined weekly distribution of more than 267,000. He previously was an advertising executive or general manager at newspapers in Indiana, Kentucky and Michigan.

The Daily Advocate, which is owned by Brown Publishing Co., has a daily circulation of about 7,500.

Compton also was named publisher of The Register-Herald in Eaton.
