By: E&P Staff The Daily Chronicle in DeKalb, Ill., has named Jason Schaumburg its new editor. Schaumburg, who most recently served as managing editor at the Northwest Herald in Crystal Lake, Ill., will start his new position on Nov. 9.

Before being promoted to managing editor at the Northwest Herald, Schaumburg served as sports editor and assistant managing editor for news. Shaw Newspapers owns both the Daily Chronicle and the Northwest Herald.

Schaumburg, 34, is a 1997 graduate of Northern Illinois University in DeKalb. While an undergrad, he worked on the student newspaper, the Northern Star, for three years.

Schaumburg has high hopes for the paper, especially in its relations with readers. ?Community journalism will live forever, but it?s not a one-way street,? Schaumburg said to the Daily Chronicle. ?While informing readers is a top priority, engaging with readers and being part of the community also are important parts of community journalism. I want the Daily Chronicle and Daily-Chronicle.com to be an indispensable part of living in DeKalb County.?
