Democracy Toolkit offers readers a personalized election guide

Posted

As the 2022 midterm election approaches, Washington Post readers now have the ability to create a personalized election guide using the newly launched Democracy Toolkit.

"The Post is committed to empowering readers with illuminating reporting about what’s at stake in the midterms and how they can participate,” said Rachel Van Dongen, director of elections at The Post. “This feature, which is a true collaboration across the newsroom, makes voting and elections more accessible by equipping our readers with key information.”

After readers answer a series of questions, the Democracy Toolkit will generate a curated list of stories, explainers and graphics to arm readers ahead of Election Day. Readers will find tools that will assist them in locating their congressional district and a guide to voter registration in all 50 states, as well as pieces that explain ranked-choice voting, how to avoid ballot mistakes and how to debunk false claims. Post subscribers can save their custom toolkit in My Post for easy access.

The Democracy Toolkit will update with new information through Election Day.
