By: Detroit's new daily newspaper is fixing a few distribution glitches as it targets 3,500 stores in the city and surrounding area.
The inaugural 20-page, two-section Detroit Daily Press hit some streets Monday. Circulation Director Jim Lingemann said wider distribution was hampered by problems with printing and trucking. Several retail chains also are solving technical issues with the newspaper's electronic bar code before selling it.
Lingemann declined to release sales or subscription figures but says they're "much better than expected."
Home delivery starts next Monday. The paper sells for 50 cents daily and $1 on Sundays.
Publishers Mark and Gary Stern decided to start the paper after The Detroit News and Detroit Free Press reduced home delivery earlier this year.
