Detroit JOA Names New Sponsorships Head

By: E&P Staff Detroit Newspapers named as its new business development director Darrin Russell, formerly with the big ad agency Aspen Marketing.

He succeeds Richard Harshbarger, who was named vice president of market development for the joint operating agency that run business and production operations of Gannett Co.'s Detroit News and Knight Ridder's Detroit Free Press.

"These are assets that offer clients attractive and well defined audiences," he said in a prepared statement. In his new role, Harshbarger will "oversee brand management and execute all marketing campaigns and events for the News and Free Press," Detroit Newspapers said.
