Eli Murray joins The New York Times as a Graphics editor

Posted

We’re excited to announce that Eli Murray is joining the Graphics department as a graphics editor starting on Feb. 21.

Eli joins us from the Tampa Bay Times, where he was an investigative/data reporter who used code to elevate the reporting and presentation of his stories. He was on the team that published Poisoned, an investigation into the working conditions at a lead smelter that won a Pulitzer for investigative reporting. He also created a memorable visualization of how the Church of Scientology bought up real estate in downtown Clearwater, which won a Loeb Award.

Eli graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in journalism and teaches a data visualization course at the University of South Florida.

Please join us in welcoming Eli to the Times.
