'E&P' Photos of Year Contest Deadline Is Today! New Categories, Including Video

By: E&P Staff Editor & Publisher Magazine, in association with Photo District News and IPNStock.com, is still accepting entries for our 10th Annual News Photo of the Year Contest -- with many new features this year, including a video/multimedia category and an online ?Reader?s Choice? page. The deadline was to Sept. 21. So enter today!

The grand prize winner gets $1,000, and other prizes are awarded as well. Winning entries appear in our November issue and/or a special online gallery. Judges represent daily newspapers and national magazines, including the Associated Press, Boston Globe and Los Angeles Times.

To enter, submit your best print photos, online news photos, and video/multimedia published since Sept. 13, 2008. Winners will be selected from the following ongoing categories: News (Spot/General), Features, Sports, and Multiple Images/Photo Essay. This year, we are also debuting several new categories: Unpublished Photos on Assignment, Portraits, News Site Photos (for Web sites without a print component), and Video/ Multimedia.

Entries for News, Features, Sports, Multiple Images, Portraits, and Video/Multimedia will be split into four circulation categories. The winners in the News Site and Video/Multimedia categories will receive a one-year subscription to Photo District News?s online portfolio service, photoserve.com -- an $800 value.

The original deadline for entries was Sept. 14 but has now been extended one week. The entry fee is $35 for a single-image entry, $50 for multiple image and video-multimedia entries. Photos selected as E&P?s Photos of the Week or Photos of the Month between Sept. 13, 2008 and Sept. 13, 2009 are automatically entered.
