Former Newspaper Editor Sentenced on Charges of Pornography Possession

By: A former Conway, N.H. newspaper editor has been sentenced to at least three years in state prison on charges of possessing child pornogprahy on his computer.

Guy Priel was arrested in June 2004 on ten counts of child pornography possession. He pleaded guilty earlier this year.

Priel apologized in court yesterday and asked for probation and treatment. The bid for mercy came despite a plea deal where he had agreed to accept as much as a 6-year prison term. The judge disagreed.

Priel was the former community editor for The Conway Daily Sun.

During his time in jail, Priel was punched by another inmate. That inmate, Carl Brooks, pleaded guilty and a former corrections officer was acquitted of setting up the attack.
