By: E&P Staff RedEye, the free commuter daily published by the Chicago Tribune, is increasing its distribution by 25% percent to 250,000 copies effective Jan. 4.

RedEye said it is making the move "to meet increasing demand from both readers and advertisers."

For the first time, the paper will be distributed at 30 colleges in Chicago's suburbs. The additional distribution will also go to "underserved" outlets in the city and along the Metra commuter train lines, RedEye said.

"RedEye is a key brand within our content portfolio, reaching Chicagoans that are young and time-pressed. Advertisers realize that RedEye connects them with this audience better than any other player in the market," Kurt Mueller, general manager of RedEye and Metromix Chicago, said in a statement. "Reading RedEye is a part of the fabric of the Chicago commute. We're excited to provide more Chicagoans with RedEye and our advertisers the ability to reach a larger portion of the younger, urban demographic."
