GateHouse Media Hooks Up With Yahoo HotJobs

Posted
By: E&P Staff GateHouse Media Inc. said Wednesday it is joining the local media consortium using Yahoo HotJobs to provide recruitment advertising services to its many dailies and weeklies.

With the addition of Fairport, N.Y.-based GateHouse, the consortium gains about 87 mostly small- and medium-sized dailies. GateHouse is also bringing the first weeklies into the consortium. The chain publishes about 1160 weeklies.

"We are very pleased to be partners with Yahoo HotJobs in what we see as the fast-growing online employment space," GateHouse CEO Mike Reed said in a statement. "We feel it is important to bring state-of-the-art technology and a strong brand name to the employers we serve in each of our local markets across the country. This relationship is designed to help us do just that, as well as ensure our consumers have the most comprehensive job selection tools, enabling them to find fulfilling career opportunities in the markets where they work and live."

Aligning with Yahoo will "significantly enhance" the online revenue opportunities, he added. GateHouse, principally owned by the private equity group Fortress Investment Group, has recently put an emphasis on increasing the Web presence of its community papers.

GateHouse stock (GHS:NYSE) at 10:58 a.m. EDT was trading up 8 cents from the opening at $18.41.
