Goss Expands Online Training Options

By: E&P Staff Using new online training courses provided by Goss International, press operators and maintenance personnel at The Tennessean, Nashville, avoided the cost, travel and production disruption that can come with training.

Goss International offers online training courses for several press and folder models. Courses are being added based on the success of the format and customer requests, according to Rick Aubin, who oversees the company's U.S. training programs.

"With advanced technology and current competitive pressures, training is more critical than ever, but it is something many printers and publishers are being forced to cut back on," Aubin said in a statement. "The on-line option is a good alternative for accessing training programs that provide long-term benefits."

For their Goss Colorliner press, Tennessean crews this month will complete an electrical troubleshooting course conducted in three-hour blocks over seven weeks. Flexibility of the online format allows two shifts to participate without interrupting production.

"On-line courses are definitely allowing us to train more efficiently and economically," said Operations Manager Duke Friedel.
