Goss Newsliner Leads Xi'an Pressroom Modernization

By: E&P Staff With daily circulations more than doubling since 1980 to 450,000 copies, China's Xi'an Daily and Xi'an Evening News has begun a pressroom modernization and capacity expansion with an order for a 75,000-cph Goss Newsliner press consisting of two four-high printing towers, one 2:3:3 jaw folder and two load-bearing reelstands.

The press will not only improve productivity ands boost color capacity, providing 16 broadsheet pages in straight run and 32 in collect mode.

The newspapers have published in the 3,000-year-old city -- home of the "terracotta army" -- for almost 60 years. A part of the economic revival of interior China's central and northwest regions, Xi'an's re-emergence as a regional cultural, industrial and educational center has contributed to the fast growth of the Xi'an Daily News Co.'s circulation and advertising revenue.

The Newsliner is the first Goss International equipment for Xi'an Daily Printing Center, where General Manager Zhao Hai Wang cited the press' "solid design and higher automation," as well as other users' recommendations.
