Gremillion Named Exec VP of Tribune Publishing

By: E&P Staff The Tribune Co. has appointed Robert "Bob" Gremillion as executive vice president of its publishing division. Gremillion was most recently president and CEO of the Sun Sentinel Co. and publisher of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel in Ft. Lauderdale.

Howard Greenberg has been named Gremillion's successor, effective immediately.

In his new position, Gremillion will oversee four of Tribune's newspapers: the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, the Orlando Sentinel, The Sun in Baltimore, and the Hartford (Conn.) Courant. He will report directly to Dennis FitzSimons, Tribune's chairman, president and CEO.

Gremillion has been president, publisher, and CEO of the Sun-Sentinel since April 1997. He was given oversight of the Sun and Courant in May 2005.

"Bob's forward-looking leadership at the Sun-Sentinel produced outstanding results," FitzSimons said in a statement. "In addition, the experience he's gained in 23 years as a key member of our publishing, interactive and broadcast groups makes him uniquely qualified for this important new role."

Greenberg served as senior vice president and general manager at Sun-Sentinel Co. since April 2005. He held a variety of management positions in circulation and operations at the Sun-Sentinel between 1984 and 2005.

"Howard's talent, dedication, and familiarity with the Sun-Sentinel and South Florida, established during 23 years with the newspaper, make him the ideal person to step into this position," Gremillion said in a statement. "He has the respect of his colleagues, and he knows and understands the community."
