Hillary Clinton Asks Fans to Pick Campaign Song -- Woodward and Brooks Comment

Posted
By: E&P Staff You may remember the boost to Fleetwood Mac's comeback provided by the Bill Clinton campaign song from 1992, "Don't Stop Thinking About Tomorrow." Now his wife is looking for a campaign boost of her own with a different song.

Take our word for it: "You Can Go Your Own Way" is not one of them.

The presidential campaign for Sen. Hillary Clinton has thrown open to a vote the choice of the song, with nine candidates listed. On Chris Matthews' syndicated talk show today, the host called for a write-in vote for "These Boots Are Made for Walking." Reporter Bob Woodward joked that the likely outcome was that the staffer who thought about this would be fired. Columnist David Brooks had three candidates: "Evita" (good), "Maneater" (tasteless) and "Jesus Christ Superstar (huh?).

For the record, the nine official candidates include The Dixie Chicks' "Ready to Run," two from U2 ("City of Blinding Lights" and "Beautiful Day'), Smash Mouth's "I'm a Believer," the Temptations' "Get Ready," and Shania Twain's "Rock This Country.
