Inefficient Juice-Maker Wins Contest Named After Cartoonist

By: E&P Staff The winning contraption in Purdue University's annual Rube Goldberg Machine Contest is a massive device that pours only a single glass of orange juice, reports Wired.com.

Goldberg (1883-1970) was a syndicated cartoonist known for drawing wacky devices that were much more complicated than they needed to be.

Wired.com noted that the three men who assembled the OJ device "spent 3,000 hours making the machine as inefficient as possible."

The contest was mentioned today on ComicsReporter.com.
