By: E&P Staff Yedioth Group, the Israeli media company that publishes Yedioth Ahronoth, Israel's largest daily newspaper, and its Web site, Ynet, today launched Ynetnews.com, an English-language site.

A year in development, Ynetnews.com combines the best material from Yedioth Ahronoth and Ynet with original content in a style and format geared to reach large English-speaking audiences throughout the world, particularly in North America.

?We have the best news reporting in Israel, and we have been asked by many people to bring our services into English,? Yacov Netzer, CEO of Yedioth Internet, said in a statement. ?Our approach, which combines the highest professional standards with constant technical innovation, has proven itself in Israel. We are excited about bringing it to English speakers. We are confident that Ynetnews will reach a large audience and will be the best English site from Israel.?

The unique style and approach of Ynetnews has been set by Ynet Editor-in-Chief Yon Feder, and Alan Abbey, Ynetnews.com Managing Director and Editor.

Abbey, a veteran of U.S. and Israeli media, said Ynetnews is written in a style that will be familiar to North American news consumers. Abbey said Ynetnews will focus on fast-breaking news out of Israel, one of the world?s most newsworthy locations, and will put it into context with analysis and quality writing.

?We?re very excited and proud to bring Israel?s most respected commentators into English for the first time on a regular basis,? Abbey said in a statement. ?We also will be bringing new voices, including young people and women, to Ynetnews. We believe the mix will provide useful, interesting and provocative commentary on political and social situations in Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish world.?

Ynetnews will bring innovative content, interactivity and features to the forefront, including extensive coverage of Israeli culture, entertainment, social affairs and daily life.

Ynetnews breaking news headlines will be available by RSS feed for use by blogs and RSS readers.
