By: E&P Staff Knight Ridder Digital has selected the HBX package from the Web-analytics firm WebSideStory to track visitor activity on its Web sites, according to a statement.

"As the market leader for Web analytics, WebSideStory offered us the best combination of technology, customer support, and business value," Anna Zornosa, Knight Ridder Digital's chief marketing officer, said in the statement. "HBX will help ensure that we are providing customers with the most relevant news, information, and services possible."

WebSideStory's services collect data from Web browsers, process that data, and deliver reports of online behavior to its customers on demand. The services allow clients to understand how Internet users respond to Web site design and content changes, online marketing campaigns, and e-commerce offerings. With this information, they can make more effective marketing decisions and easily improve the merchandising, sales, support, and design of their sites.

The HBX Analytics software is the flagship product out of WebSideStory. Knight Ridder will use the software to track users across Web sites for its 31 dailies.

In addition to the newspapers, Knight Ridder Digital also operates Real Cities.
