LATimes.com Reports Record Page Views in May

A memo from LATimes.com executive editor Meredith Artley reports that the site experienced a surge in hits since April, mostly due to its coverage of the Griffith Park and Catalina fires as well as its Paris Hilton and Kobe Bryant coverage. Their Showtracker blog also brought in record traffic thanks to Richard Rushfield's posts about American Idol.

May brought in 77.9 million page views, up over a million since 76 million in April. Artley noted that these numbers may be difficult to beat in June, since summer months are generally hard for setting web traffic records.
