Los Angeles Times Names New Graphics and Data Editor

Javier Zarracina will be joining the Los Angeles Times as the graphics and data editor, effective Oct. 21. In this newly created position, Zarracina will manage and art direct daily and long-term graphics projects. He will work with the data desk and web team to develop motion graphics and data presentations for digital platforms and print. Zarracina comes from the Boston Globe, where he was the graphics director. Originally from Spain, Zarracina has spent more than 20 years in journalism, including five years teaching at universities in his native country and in El Salvador.
