Mailroom System for Venezuelan Daily Leads Recent Quipp Sales

By: E&P Staff Miami-based Quipp Systems Inc. will install a complete mailroom system at Caracas-based Ultimas Noticias, one of Venezuela's largest newspapers, with 230,000 daily circulation and 350,000 on Sundays.

The system, slated to go online in the fourth quarter, will include a Quipp-Gripp III single-gripper conveyor system, Model 500C stackers, Viper wrappers, strappers, and an extension to the daily's existing Quipp bundle distribution system, which includes two Model 500C Stackers, two Viper wrappers, four strappers, two truck loaders, several matte-top conveyors, and software to control the system.

The South American daily has been a Quipp user since 1988, when it installed a belt conveyor with stackers and floor equipment, and then expanded in 2000 with a single-gripper conveyor and the bundle distribution system.

State Journal and El Diario Montanes, Santander, Spain (each one 500W); Belleville (Ill.) News-Democrat, The Winchester (Va.) Star, and Bradenton (Fla.) Herald (each one 501N); Battle Creek (Mich.) Enquirer (501W and floor equipment); Culpeper (Va.) Star-Exponent and The Dothan (Ala.) Eagle (each one 500N); The Star Phoenix, Saskatoon, Sask. (500C). The Model500C features bundle compression to remove air and the stream squeeze roller to create a tighter fold.

extension and powered side walls, along with floor equipment); Dow Jones & Co., Monmouth Junction, N.J. (four Vipers), and Charlotte, N.C. (two Vipers); The Winchester (Va.) Star (one wrapper); Wichita Falls (Texas) Times Record News (Viper with infeed extension); Culpeper (Va.) Star-Exponent (one wrapper).
