Matthew Spahn Named CMO of Advo

By: E&P Staff Advo announced yesterday that Matthew Spahn will become its senior vice president and CMO effective May 1. Spahn will report to Advo CEO Scott Harding.

Most recently, Spahn was director, media planning, at Sears, Roebuck & Co. While there, he oversaw all of Sears' strategic media plans, managing a $650 million budget. Spahn also worked for Newspaper Services of America for four years under Harding, when Harding was CEO of NSA.

?[Spahn's] extensive background, including knowledge of the advertising industry and expertise in strategic planning across all forms of media, particularly print, will be critical to conveying Advo's industry-leading advertising capabilities to current and prospective clients,? Harding said in a statement.

Spahn has been a member of the Audit Bureau of Circulations, including two years as chairman. He was also chairman of the Newspaper Association of America/ABC Liaison Committee.
